JIMMY D ITS A KIND OF MAGICK AW11/12
I had heard and seen a few Jimmy D designs a few days before the runway show and as such had a slight idea of Jimmy D's aesthetic - dark and edgy. Jimmy D's AW11/12 collection aptly named It's a kind of magick explored the elemental forces of darkness and light, chaos, hard steel and soft silk, last winter’s black metal girl had grown up and fallen in with a futuristic clan of warrior witches - this was my kind of collection!
Not only that I had a pop backstage after the show where I had a better look at the beautiful collaboration between Meadowlark and Jimmy D as well as the amazing eye tattoo detailing on each model.
I particularly loved the sheer black dress with spike shoulder detailing as well as the velvet pentagram dress (which I was lucky enough to prance around Auckland in!)
Fantastic collection James, had a ball seeing your show as well as hanging in your apartment and seeing your collection in person and playing dress ups!
The beautiful make up on the models was designed by Amber Dreadon, New Zealand's own senior MAC artist who was asked to style the show. She found inspiration directly from the exclusive print in the collection as well as "Swedish Death Metal meets Pam from 'True Blood'".
