My recent trip to Auckland New Zealand was kindly all thanks to the wonderful people of Air New Zealand and Tourism New Zealand. I don't really enjoy flying, so the fact that the flight over to Auckland from Sydney only took a mere 3 hours was perfect news for me! Not only that, the service on the flight was amazing, I loved the cute intergration of the Kiwi love for rugby into the Air New Zealand flight safety instructions - very clever.
To be completely honest I was running late to Sydney international airport on the day of my flight to Auckland due to some circumstances and the check in time had expired and as such I was freaking out! Thankfully the amazing people of Air New Zealand let me still check in and everything was back in track.
The flight itself was interesting - I had only ever really flown to Japan, Thailand and China so this short flight was a very enjoyable experience for me and the in flight food was quite delicious. I had a beef and gravy with a side of mashed potatoes and vegetables. Overall the flight to and from Auckland was an fantastic experience, I enjoyed New Zealand Fashion Week and learnt alot about the fashion scene in New Zealand as well as had the pleasure of being able to sight see a bit around the city.
What is quite amazing is the fact that the short flight over to Auckland (it's a mere 3 hours from the east coast of Australia) allows Aussies to travel over to New Zealand to experience one of the richest and dynamic fashion scenes basically available on our doorstep! You literally can have breakfast in Sydney and lunch in Auckland! I would suggest checking out Ponsonby Road, Karangahape Road otherwise known as 'K Road' as well as New Market. I really had a ball seeing a little slice of New Zealand and cannot wait to go back!
